Me to Lauren as we're standing in line for the cable car: "Is now a bad time to tell you I'm afraid of heights?"
Lauren to me: 😑
Also me: Blissfully unaware of just how high we would climb, how nauseatingly steep that cable would be, or how sheer the direct drop into jagged rocks on the side of a vertical mountain would be. We were in there for over half an hour (11 minutes), Loz was very supportive (checking that I was actually breathing), and I was very brave (deep breathing like a Navy Seal and not looking down). And worth it, it was.
We stepped out of that death wagon to nothing short of a mountain-top wonderland. Picnic areas, ampitheatres, sky bars, adrenaline coasters, restaurants, and the most breathtaking vistas over the three bays and out to the open ocean. We wandered. We marveled. Loz strong-armed the ticket sellers into letting us join the last entry for the Alpine Coaster. We made friends in the line. We watched the most spectacular sunset over the ocean, and finally, we rode a go kart off the side of a 1750m mountain 💀 It ended up being SUCH a fun day, and a highlight of the year without question!
